Styling ROUTINE

DO’S AND DONT’S:

Do: Use the right towel for your hair texture.

WHY? With different hair textures come different needs—make sure what you’re using to wring out your

hair is beneficial to the locks on your head.

Don't: Just grab the first towel you see.

WHY? The towel you use can make or break the end result of your style. Consult with your

stylist about what that looks like for your hair texture.

Do: Make sure your products have the proper power for your hair.

WHY? Much like texture needs to be considered when wringing it dry, it needs to be considered when choosing what

products to layer! Make sure what you’re picking is compatible with the hair on your head.

Don't: Use products that work against your own hair texture.

WHY? Fine hair’s going to hate anything too heavy, curly hair isn’t going to cooperate if it’s too lightweight.

You want to be using products made for you to achieve the looks you’re going for.

Do: Rough dry to 90% before smoothing with a brush.

WHY? Hair needs to be almost entirely dry to get any style retention with a brush. If you’re an at-home-blowout-brush girly,

this applies to you too—going from wet to dry with a blowout brush is going to triple your styling time and the

metal in the brush element is going to be extremely damaging to your cuticle.

Don't: …listen to the last “do” if you’re a curly girl.

WHY? Diffuse, diffuse, diffuse. No rough dry’s here, nope nope.

Do: Choose the temperature of your hot tools with your texture/density in mind.

WHY? Some manes need a little less encouragement than others when it comes to heat styling. Too much heat

can not only damage your beautiful hair, but also work against how well the style holds.

Don't: Set your hot tools to the highest they go.

WHY? You just don’t need to :)

BONUS TIPS FROM YOUR COCOLEMON HAIRSTYLIST TO

GET THE MOST OF YOUR HAIR STYLING ROUTINE:

Make Your Products Work for You:

Choosing products for your styling routine can be really overwhelming, so here’s a good rule of thumb for what should be in your at-home routine:

1) a leave-in/dentagler

2) a product for moisture or volume (whichever one you need)

3) a product with style memory (anything you can put in wet that provides hold)

4) a finishing spray (hairspray, texture spray, dry spray wax, etc.)

Pick the Right Hot Tools:

You can have allllll the right products in your at-home routine, but the health of your hair really hinges on the hot tools you’re using.

A good rule of thumb for at-home use is to lean towards ceramic barrels and irons—they tend to be a lot gentler

on the hair while still distributing heat evenly through your section.

Remember, gorgeous locks start with proper care and

quality products. Stay tuned for more insider tips
